BTW, do you guys recommend malwarebytes as the best free anti malware program? (aside from Avast, obviously ;D).
malwarebytes is anti-spyware HeadOnAPike. So a bit different than anti-virus.
I dont want to explain here but if you look around the forum you will get an idea of how things work and why there has been a general consensus amongst many of us that malwarebytes complements avast very well. I for one can attest to this combo from personal experience of cleaning computers of malware.
Perhaps go to home page (avastWEBforum) and search mbam and you can see how often this program is used with good outcomes. Just remember always update first before scan. And quick scan is usual enough.

Recently when I run Windows Media Player my computer runs super slow and my internet connects. When I turn it off everything goes back to normal. WinAmp runs fine. I was wondering if this virus has been known to damage WMP.
Not to the best of my knowledge - disable WMP access to the net
