Win32:KillApp-W [PUP] false positive?

Hi,

I searched the forums for this and there doesn’t seem to be any conclusions. However, I have noticed that this was detected in all HP laptops which I have (HP dv6t, quad-core). This was found during a boot scan and I moved it to the virus chest because I wasn’t sure what it was.

So my question is, is this program safe to restore? Thanks! ;D

Win32:KillApp-W [PUP]
PUP is not virus, it is a program that can be used for good or bad, depending on what it is and who installed it for whatever reason

PUP (potentially unwanted program)

Search the forum.

Just for the people reading this:

I searched it on the HP forums and they said HP uses it as a part of a recovery program. So, I am guessing that it is therefore harmless and I will be restoring it. Thanks

Please correct me if I am wrong.

since they have classified it as PUP it is a program that can be used for good or bad…what and how i do not know

kk, just one question. I tried to restore it but it it’s still on the list. How do I know if it’s really restored? ???

there will be a copy in the chest after restoring…
so you have to browse to where the file should be…C:/…/… to see if it is there
then you can delete the copy from chest when you want…

Thanks, and while trying to restore do I click overwrite or overwrite all? Sry for the inconvenience lol

hmmm…not sure…check the help file in top right corner
