On a scheduled scan several files were tagged as being infected with Win 32 Malware-gen. The scan settings were set to repair the file(s) and if unable to move them to the Virus Chest. The log indicated they could not be repaired, Error 42060 (the file was not found). I had to manually move them to the chest.
Once they were moved Avast recommended a Boot time Scan which I did and the same infections came up and again I had to move them to the chest manually. I have attached a screen shot of that log.
Another scheduled scan did not pick up any further infections. Malwarebytes Pro did not detect anything before or after Avast did. After the “clean” scan I scanned the files while they were in the Chest and they came up clean.
Three of the files are related to a Lexmark printer. I see from a post yesterday someone else has the same issue with their Lexmark files (although a different printer model). Here is the info. for that post in case it is of help.

This is on a friend’s computer. They have had infections in System Volume files before. These are still showing as infected in the Chest. Can they just be safely deleted from the Chest?
Windows XP SP 3 Avast 7 Free Malwarebytes Pro IE 8
Thank you for your help.
hey and welcome to the forum. there is no rush of deleting anything from the chest. is a safe area where the infection will not harm the computer if you still need more help please follow this guide and attach your logs.
Thank you for your reply. They have not experienced any further problems when I posted. I will not be able to access that computer until tomorrow afternoon. Avast and MBAM are scheduled to run every day so hopefully they will still come up clean.
So since the Lexmark files scanned clean while in the chest, does it mean they were a false positive?
How long should files be left in the chest (I also use/recommend Avast)? They had a really nasty infection about a year ago. Any reason why I shouldn’t delete it or older items from the chest now?
Hey again I’m no expert but they say you leave the file in the chest for about two weeks and then you re scan it and if it still comes up as malware you can delete it, but sens the files is in the chest there is not rush to delete them. it would be good if you could get those logs attach here then a malware expert can have a look at it and see if there something left to take care of just in case.

if clean when scanned on chest you can right click and restore them, a copy will remain in chest..
when all is ok you may delete the copy in chest
