Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

FINALLY

run farbar service scanner

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/FSS.GIF

Tick “All” options.
Press “Scan”.
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.

Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Thank you for replying so fast, I ran the OTL fix and while it was running an error message appeared saying that the program had to be terminated. So I decided to run it again and it appeared to work. Restarted my computer and the Avast alert message no longer pops up. I have ran the quick scan and here is the report. I am going to download combofix now.

Hello, I have downloaded combofix however I cannot disable Avast, I have turned off all the real time shields but Combofix said that it was still running so I tried to stop the process and service in the task manager and it says “Access denied” I cannot think what else to do. I am the administrator and am the only one that uses this computer.

Don’t worry about my last message I have disabled Avast now there was a hidden setting that had to be disabled so that you can gain full access to it.

Ok here is the log for the Combofix. There were a few problems with programs being marked for deletion but that was fixed after a restart, there are updates that it is asking to install on restart which I have not done yet, the only other problem that I have noticed that in my documents folder there is three new folders called My music, pictures and videos but they have a picture of a lock on them and I cannot access them but they are seperate from my actual music, pictures and videos folders which I might add have files in them called Desktop.ini. But other than that everything seems to be running faster however havent had time to fully test it.
Finally I am about to run the Farbar Service Scanner.

Here is the final report from Farbar service scanner.
Hopefully everything is ok, it appears to be from my end. Thank you so much for helping me and getting rid of the problems so fast.
I don’t usually get viruses or spyware it just came out of noware, I was on a normal and safesite checked by McAfee site advisor and instantly the Avast alert went off.
Thank you again and I hope you have a good day.

Now that all looks good ;D

The locked folders are ones you will not normally see… They will be hidden again on completion…

The big question… How is the computer behaving

Yes the computer is behaving normally again, all the alert pop ups are gone and the computer starts up a bit faster. All thats left to do is reinstall the windows updates and service pack as they have been uninstalled but that won’t take long. Thank you for your help I just did not know what to do after all the scans I had done and nothing seemed to remove it.
Thanks.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Commands [resethosts] [emptytemp] [Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Remove ComboFix

[*]Hold down the Windows key + R on your keyboard. This will display the Run dialogue box
[*]In the Run box, type in ComboFix /Uninstall (Notice the space between the “x” and “/”) then click OK

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee362/Essexboy3/Misc%20screen%20shots/CF_Uninstall-1.jpg

[]Follow the prompts on the screen
[
]A message should appear confirming that ComboFix was uninstalled

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

[*]Go to control panel
[*]Select folder options (Appearance > Folder options in category view)
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.
