Win32 Malware-gen and Win32 Trojan-gen

Ok so here goes:

I have for some reason (Just my luck) started getting the Win32: Malware-gen and Win32: Trojan-gen pop ups from Avast! on my computer. I have attached the OLT logs and ran the following reports per the sticky. Any help would be greatly appriciated as I cant seem to get it out on my own like the Win7 one I had a while back.

Hi gwhetzler,

If Avast! did not alert, would you know you were infected?

Popups can be annoying, especially if every 30 seconds or so, but at least Avast! is doing its job. Every alert means the infection is prevented from spreading deeper into your system, and this repeated protection can actually prevent the malware from calling home and downloading even more malware onto your system.

Just so you know.

Be patient. A malware specialist will review the logs you posted and assist you in cleansing your system.

Nobody?

I have tried to attract some attention to your topic.

There may be some delay due to differing time zones and availability of the volunteer malware removal specialists.

Ok thank you. I wasnt sure what was up. I just checked again today and noticed others being answered right away. Though I fell through the cracks.

Yes, I believe that was the most likely reason, because there was no activity on your topic it drops down the chronological listing, so may not appear on the first or second page of topics.

@gwhetzler :wink:

Step1

Re-run OTL.exe.

[*]Copy and paste the following text written inside of the quote box into the Custom Scans/Fixes box.

C:\Windows\Installer\{d7f6303e-e4cb-db80-8eb0-aca9ac4214d8}

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top.
[*]Let the program run unhindered; it will reboot the system when it is done and open notepad with logreport. Attach here that logreport.

Step2

Download ComboFix from here and save it to your Desktop.
If you are unsure how ComboFix works please read this guide carefully.
note: ComboFix must be downloaded to your Desktop.

Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program.
If you are unsure how to do this please read this Instruction.

How to disable avast:

[*]Right-click on the avast! icon in the lower right corner of the screen and choose Open Avast! User Interface.
[*]In the window that opens on the top right corner, click Settings.
[*]In a new window that opens, choose the option Troubleshooting, Uncheck Enable avast! self-defense, and click OK.

[*]Right-click on the avast! icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select avast! shield controls .
[*]In the menu that appears, choose Disable Permanently. When you are prompted to turn off security, click Yes.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a log report for you. (typical location: C:ComboFix.txt )
Attach log reports ( ComboFix.txt) back to topic.

Ok ran the programs. Attached the Logs. So far no more pop ups from avast! Seems to have removed the malware. Are there any more steps aside from getting Windows, Java, Avast, etc. up to date?

 • Disable avast antivirus!

 • Open notepad and copy/paste the text present inside the code box below:

DeQuarantine::
C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\c\esupport\eDriver\Software\ASUS\MultiFrame\XP32_Vista32_Vista64_Win7_32_Win7_64_1.0.0021\Desktop_.ini
C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\c\program files (x86)\Common Files\ASPG_icon.ico
Quit::

Save this as CFScript.txt

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Close all browser windows and refering to the picture above.

Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will will re-run. When finished, it will produce a log for you.
Attach the contents of the log in your next reply. (typical location: C:ComboFix.txt )

How is your computer running now?

Attached is the combo fix log. The system seems to be running really well again. A little prior to the pop ups and during the system was lagging really bad, had issues with loading windows slowly and the internet explorer.

So far, I have gained my “quick boot” back when starting the computer, the internet is not having issues any more, the RAM seems to be cleared up a little bit more, and the Avast! pop ups about the Malware are gone.

Hi,
please attach here C:\QooBoxComboFix-quarantined-files.txt

Attached

The files that I wanted back into the system were still in Combofix Quarantine but when I think about it again, we will leave them there. ;D

Your logs looks good.

It is necessary to uninstall the ComboFix :

[*] Click Start (or
http://amf.mycity.rs/pg/images/VistaStartButton.png
) then Run.

On Windows7 or Vista you may use Start Search field if Run is not available.

[*] In the line of text type in (Copy) the following:

ComboFix /Uninstall

Note that there is a space between " ComboFix " and " /Uninstall " .

[*] then click OK (or press Enter ).

Wait for the uninstall process is complete.

Re-run OTL and click on CleanUp! button. :wink:

Everything is uninstalled.

YOU are my own personal savior!!! :wink:

Thanks again.

Glad to help :wink:
