Win32:Malware-gen

Just a few days ago, I was playing WolfTeam, when i tried to join a game, avast virus warning will appear, i can’t continue with the game and i dun get to see the log. Then i rebooted my comp, i checked the log and check for recent detections, it says
6/26/2010 7:40:20 PM SYSTEM 1440 Sign of “Win32:Malware-gen” has been found in “C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\obj33.tmp” file.
6/26/2010 7:45:29 PM SYSTEM 1428 Sign of “Win32:Malware-gen” has been found in “C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\obj1C.tmp” file.
6/26/2010 9:08:15 PM user 1424 Sign of “Win32:Malware-gen” has been found in “C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\obj35.tmp” file.

I’ve tried MBAM, avast boot-time scan, yet the virus still persists. I hope there is someone who can help me, my email is nim1233@Hotmail.com, thx.

Try claning/empty your temp files and see if that will solve it…

ATF cleaner http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/ATF-Cleaner.shtml
CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Remove the " Check "
( options > advanced > only delete files in windows temp folder older than 24hours )

I just tried with CCleaner, it didn’t work. I heard a few friends say it may be a false detection.

That is possible…

you can try these and see if they detect/remove anything

Dr.Web CureIt http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/?lng=en
How Do I Use Dr.Web CureIt!? http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/how_it_works/
Norman Malware Cleaner http://www.norman.com/support/support_tools/58732/en

no install, just save to desktop and run from there.
When they have done the work you can just dragg and dropp in the resycle bin

if it does not work you can follow the guide from Essexboy and post the logs here as attachments so he can have a look
(down left corner > additional options > attach )

Here’s the OTL things.

i will send Essexboy a PM. He is usually in here late UK time, so in about 8-10 hours…

Thx.

I see that system restore is disabled - did you do that ? I would recommend that you restart it as it is a useful safety net

Also Avast is the old 4.8 - again my recommendation would be to update to V5

Lets clear all the temps as I can not see a great deal there, did MBAM report anything ?

Clear Cache/Temp Files
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

[*] Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
[*]It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
[*]Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
[*]Once it’s finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.
