At what stage does OTL freeze ?

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

 • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/NSIS_extraction.png

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

 1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
 2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
 3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

I’m not sure at what stage the OTL starts to freeze but i did run Combo Fix and my comp seems to be running much faster Firefox loaded quicker and websites pulled up quicker. Here is the ComboFix log attached.

Could you try OTL one more time please select all users and press quick scan

If it should lock again on the bottom of the programme will be where it is currently scanning
Could you let me know what that is

This time it froze At Scanning Drivers: Null But i know it has froze at other different places

Hmm … OK

The combofix log looked good, how is the system behaving now ?

Seems better i know that when i go to google and search something some of them send me to an ad but its seems faster

Could you download DDS from here please to your desktop http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/dds/

Run DDS and attach the log that it produces

I ran OTL again also with Firefox closed and it froze on Firefox settings which it has done a couple of times in a row.

Ah that explains it… Sometimes the Firefox folder structure causes OTL to loop, this is usually a sign of a corrupt folder

 1. Close any open browsers.
 2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
 3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
DDS:: uInternet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1:9421;*.local; TB: {BF7380FA-E3B4-4DB2-AF3E-9D8783A45BFC} - No File TB: {D4027C7F-154A-4066-A1AD-4243D8127440} - No File TB: {21FA44EF-376D-4D53-9B0F-8A89D3229068} - No File TB-X64: {BF7380FA-E3B4-4DB2-AF3E-9D8783A45BFC} - No File TB-X64: {D4027C7F-154A-4066-A1AD-4243D8127440} - No File TB-X64: {21FA44EF-376D-4D53-9B0F-8A89D3229068} - No File
Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exeWhen finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

Notes:

 1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
 2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
 3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

[]Follow the prompts on the screen

]A message should appear confirming that ComboFix was uninstalled

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

[*]Select folder options (Appearance > Folder options in category view)
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.
