Win32: Malware-gen

Hi there, I recently did a quick scan on Avast! because I was about to download a song when Firefox redirected the page to a blocked site. I cancelled the song download and decided to do a scan. Avast! detected 2 viruses - win32: Malware-gen and when the scan finished, I chose the option of putting it into the chest. However, I got a message from both saying “Error: Virus Chest server is not running”. I did some searching on this error massage and the threads said to do a repair on Avast because it was most likely a corrupt file on Avast, so I did a repair. I then did a boot-scan to see if I could remove the viruses that way. During the boot-scan, Avast! detected 4 infected files in total all infected with win32: Malware-gen and when I tried moving the viruses to the chest, I got an error say “Error 0xC000007B {Bad Image}”. I have gotten this message before but the last person did not explain it to me and I would still like to know what that means. I then tried deleting the virus but then I got the error "Error 0x80000006 {No more files}. Once the boot-scan was finished, I decided to download Malwarebytes and did a scan. Malwarebytes did not find anything and I also installed the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool to see if it detected any viruses, same results, no pop ups of any viruses. Below I have posted the results of the Malwarebytes and I also took a picture of the viruses Avast! found (don’t know where the reports are). I’d greatly appreciate it if someone could help me!

on top in that picture…where it say severity…put your mouse pointer on the vertical bar just in front of severity and dragg sidways untill you can see the full file name / file path

then take a new picture and attach it

Hey Pondus, thanks for replying back so quickly. I’ve attached the pictures and I was wondering if you could tell me what causes Avast! to not allow these viruses to be moved into the chest. I’m curious about why the past several viruses Avast! has detected gave the same messages. Thanks in advance!

you did not do it correct…you have just hovered the pointer on the first file detected…
and it seems to be a Asus file…so i guess it is a false positive

as i said, you put the mouse pointer on the vertical bar just in front of the word “Severity” hold down left mouse button and dragg sideways…then you will enlarge the column so we can see the full file name/file path on all the files and not just the one you mouse hover over

Oh, sorry about that. I will upload the pictures again when I get home. But do you know why Avast detects them as viruses and won’t allow me to remove them? This is the second time I have gotten these kinds of messages and would it be possible to know why? Is it a glitch or something? Thanks

I have added a screenshot of the full file paths. Still wondering about the question above as well. Thanks in advance.
