Win32:MultiPlug-ZC [PUP]

Hi everyone,

To my surprise I opened my Virus Chest the other day and discovered I had this:-

Unconfirmed 794282.crdownload Win32:MultiPlug-ZC [PUP]

I was shocked because apart from using Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, eBay and my own work email I don’t go anywhere any site that I presume would cause a virus such as gaming, porn sites etc.

Avast (I have the paid version) normally flags up a site in which a trojan or malware is present and that’s that so I was surprised to discover a virus had got through. Then yesterday another ‘virus’ appeared in the Virus Chest saying it was from a Canon download. I don’t have a Canon camera so not sure what that was about however when I ran the Scan within Virus Chest it confirmed it was ‘not a virus’ so I deleted it however when I scan the “Win32:MultiPlug-ZC [PUP]” virus all it says afterwards is:-

Unconfirmed 794282.crdownload Win32:MultiPlug-ZC [PUP]

It’s been in my Virus Chest since April so what do I do with it? Do I delete or leave it where it is? Also, now it’s in my Virus Chest can it be a threat to my operating system?

Thank you for your time,

C.
