Apparantly, when i checked for emails in microsoft outlook in the morning the past few days, i will received at least 3 emails that contains the above mentioned virus.
This is detected by the avast!(v4.6 n 0516-8) . Each time i deleted them. However, this happens for almost straight 3 to 4 days which i think the problems might lies with my pc.
do you have any idea whether i am infected? or is just that i happens to receive the infected mails?
Also i notice in the bytes sent/received, it keeps sending & receiving at a slow rate although there is no internet activites…(note that i am using dial up)
So, if you were infected that can’t generate inbound emails, outbound yes and avast would/should be able to detect and stop them also.
avast! scans your email before it gets into your inbox, any infected emails detected you get a warning and are asked for a decision, deleting as you have done means the email is deleted and it never lands in your inbox.
Someone you know (with your email address in their address book) may be infected and this is generating the infected emails. The from address in an infected email is usually forged (usually taking another of the email addresses in the infected persons address book or other data) and they may appear to be coming from multiple locations but are more likely to be coming from one infected computer.
Hello Folks,
I am also having trouble with the WIN32: NETSKY-P[WRM] virus in my e-mail account. The virus comes as an attachment in an e-mail with various subject heading. The Avast free version I’m using identifies the virus every time and and I delete the attachment every time.
Hope I’m safe with Avast. IS there any other web tool specific to scan and repair the virus infection.
