According to Avast!, the popular online game Maplestory has been detected as Win32:Pakes-Q Trojan. The file directory is C:\Program Files\WIZET\MapleStory\Maplestory.exe . Could this be a false positive?
Hi
You can submit the file to virusscan.jotti.org or to www.virustotal.com to see if only Avast! detects it as a virus, if so, it’s probably a false positive.
If you are getting a virus warning that you believe is a false positive, then if you can zip and password protect (‘virus’, will do) the suspect file and send it to virus @ avast.com (no spaces).
Give a brief outline of the problem, the fact that you believe it to be a false positive and include the password in the body of the email. Some info on the avast version and VPS number (see about avast {right click avast icon}) will also help.
Have already send file to virusscan.jotti.org or to www.virustotal.com and both reported only Avast detected it as Win32:Pakes-Q trojan horse, all other online virus scanners reported negative.
Also sent zipped file to virus@avast.com, so far no response!

Hi xp_1839,
If it is indeed a false positive, it is important that AVAST knows about this, to take action. Also it would be a good idea to inform the maker of the game and send him a friendly mail, pointing to the problem you met. Maybe there is a glitch in his program and he will be thankful for any comment. Information on these things is the way to proceed, and a sure way for improvement. Reporting these things is very good and we welcome your contribution. THANX.
greets,
polonus
It should be fixed soon.
Have already inform game developer via email, like Avast, so far no response!
??? ??? ??? ??? ???
Alwil will not reply to a submission unless they need/want more information.
It will only cost them a lot of time to respond to every submittion.
Time that they can use better to update/correct the vps.
Hooray, VPS 534-3 08/25/05 fixed this false positive!
MapleStory.exe is no longer scanned as infested by Win32.Pakes-Q trojan horse.
Thank to the Avast Team!
