Win32:parite ?!?!?!

Hey

I have this problem with Win32:Parite

Every time I open an .exe file it alerts with Win32:parite Virus/Worm

Internet explore
FM2008
Everything …

And when I do a scan it wants to delete all my .exe files :S

Help Please :S

I think its something like this:

http://www.antivirusworld.com/articles/parite.php

Its cleaned now :stuck_out_tongue: - never mind

That means, that all your exe files are infected with a virus. So Backup all your Data, format the Harddisk and install Windows again.
Bevor going online the first time, you have to install the newest Servicepack avaible for your Windows Version.
You have to download it from a other clean PC, otherwise the downloaded servicepack will become infected too.

Using the offered cleaning tool for “your” virus is not a good choice IMHO, because it is not able to clean the files 100% and the chance, that the cleaner destroys the file is high!

Win32:Parite should be covered by avast cleaner…

Only certain variants according to the web page

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-virus-cleaner.html

Win32:Parite (aka Pinfi), variants A-C

So if avast alerts to a file infected with Partite does it not run the avast cleaner ?

The Avast Virus Cleaner helped me out

How can you say I have to reinstall windows ?!

DavidR: the D variant is a piece of ZOO virus… it was never so widespread as the other three variants… we got only a few samples of it… the D variant is detected, but not covered by cleaner… and the cleaner code is called for Win32:Parite, when the user pushes the “Repair” button afaik… Igor could confirm it…

Thanks Maxx.

Hopefully NamhSTAR will give is some more information on:

  1. How it was detected in the first place and what options were given on detection ?
  2. How the avast cleaner was called (as your comment on Repair) or run as a stand alone download and run outside of avast!, etc. ?
