Win32:Refpron-AH [Trj]

I’ve got this virus on my computer and it just won’t go away. I’ve tried to move it to the chest, deleting it, and the boot scan. The computer detects a ton of files that are infected but after a few hours this same virus is detected.

I’m running Windows Xp, I’m using the most current version of AVAST Home edition version 7/16/09. Virus says it’s in my temporary internet files but of course when I go to this folder to delete the files there is nothing in there.

Does anybody know how to get rid of this annoying Trojan horse?

 Hi :

You need MORE than Avast to protect your computer . Would recommend you
use “Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware” ( www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php ) AND
“SUPERAntiSpyware” ( www.superantispyware.com ), BOTH of which come
in a FREE Version .

Try clearing your temp and file and run a scan with the program that Spirtisongs posted.
Ccleaner is good for clearing temp files http://www.ccleaner.com/

In this case, of using free versions, you won’t add protection but detection. You’re not using any resident that increase detection.

Hi evvia98,

From what you report, my question to you here: “have you uninstalled all traces of a former/previous symantec install” This could have lead to this Refpron AH detection. Also consider this: http://www.microsoft.com/security/spyware/prevent.aspx
