Hello guys.

I installed AVAST 4.8 on a newly reformatted PC with a fresh copy of XP. It detected this Win32:SdBot-gen22 [trj] but it was successfully quarantined. I tried to look for some info on this virus but I’ve been rather unsuccessful…

I guess I’m just curious as to how was it possible to have a virus when the only contents of my hard disk are the newly installed windows XP and AVAST…

I hope this virus won’t do any sort of damage to my system…

Hope someone can shed some light on this… I’m so stumped! ???

From the Chest, export the file to a new location, e.g., the desktop. Disable avast! by right clicking the avast! ball in the notification area and selecting the ‘Stop/disable’ option.

Upload the above file to VirusTotal for analysis. Post the results here.

(If you don’t disable avast!, it will block the upload.)
