While scanning this morn, I found a possible trojan in a db file (possibly a false positive) in an AOL system folder. The path location was C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL\Ca_America Online 9.0\storage\cache.db I tried to get Avast! to repair it and Avast! returned a could not repair result. When installing Avast! 4.x, I ran VRDB over the whole C:\ drive. I can’t figure out why it wouldn’t repair the file. I then permanently deleted the db file and AOL still launched. I ran AOL’s autofix, to be safe. I remember something to this occurring with another AOL/Avast! user and couldn’t remember if this is indeed a false positive and if it was OK to permanently delete db file. Avast! was set to Thorough/Archive scan. Any comments would be helpful, other than speak with AOL Tech Support.
From the path you give (not being an AOL user), this looks like the your aol browser cache?
If so it is quite possible that a page or file in that cache was infected, since it is inside what is in effect an aol proprietory database cache, it wouldn’t be possible to delete an individule file within that database without potentially corrupting that database.
A repair is dependant on having a reference point, the VRDB that was run shortly after installation (you did didn’t you). The problem with a volitile file like your cache.db that reference is out of date and couldn’t sucessfully be repaired (my thoughts only not avast).
I’m sure that you would have been livid had avast deleted the whole database file if it was important.
There must be a way of deleting your browsers temporary files to flush the temporary files or do as you did delete it (but you would have to know that was ok).
Now you have deleted and recreated the cache.db file I assume you are now clean?

HTH David
The best is always to repair and if that can help then move it to the viruschest
The AOL browser cache database was recreated after restarting AOL and is now clean of this Trojan alert.
Thanks

Hi, i found the Win32:SecondThought[Trj] in my temporary files folder, so the avast virus alert said. When i tried to delete, repair, or move to the virus chest, avast said i couldn’t do it. With nothing for me to do to fix it, i came here, asking for help, does anyone have any ideas on how i can get rid of this virus? Help would be greatly appreciated
I too scanned recently and Win32:SecondThought[Trj] was found in the same path location … C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL\Ca_America Online 9.0\storage\cache.db. It could not be repaired and I deleted it. It has not affected AOL or been detected since. False Positive or not it is gone now.
Any warning that indicates your temporary internet files. First purge/empty your temporary internet files cache, reboot, re-scan and see if that has cleared the problem.
