f:\windows\system32\dx8vb32.dll was the file and it causing me loads of trouble!!

Can only boot in safe mode (locks up when loading preferences in normal mode)
cant access internet in safe mode -

running avast 4.8 home - would not allow me to move to chest (“chest server is not running - rpc communication failed”) and would not allow me to delete ("cannot process file)

Am now running “scheduled boot scan” , and 4 trojans have so far been found and moved to chest , but it has been running for 75 minutes now and is only 69% complete - got to 69% in about 30 minutes and has been there now for 45 minutes (running through my f file documents and settings) - is this usual, or has the virus done something bad ?

the scanning seems to runright to left, then left to right - is it going round in circles ? has the virus dumped loads of crap in there , or am I just paranoid ?

Very new to all this…perhaps just need reassurance if anyone can help…

now have additional problem !!!

f:\hiberfil.sys-zipper-2778 infected

cant move it (*error0xc000007f(operation failed because disk was full)
cant delete it (error0xc0000043(a file cannot be opened because the share account flags are incompatible)
cant repair it (error42060)

-so only option is to ignore it - PLEASE HELP !!

hiberfil.sys is a memory file from hibernation. Something could be detected at it by outside, most times, false positives and not real infections. The file is too big to move to Chest (generally) and not need for that. Ignore the file (use the exclusion lists). The file will be rebuild by the scratch when you use hibernation again.
