Which is the name and path of the file?
Are you using both McAfee and avast at the same time in the same computer?
You can add it to the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning) exclusion list:
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…
to answers your ?'s - yes to both programs
it shows up in the following;
Windows\Temp\mcvll.temp\naiupp.000\tmpfile
malware = Win 32:Startpage-216
virus = Trojan
vps version = 0651.2
should I still follow the addition to the standard shield instructions or is this something needing other attention?
If you’re using both McAfee and avast at the same time in the same computer they will conflict, sooner or later.
Please, uninstall one of them. Most of the times, disabling is not enough.
Unfortunatelly, seems that McAfee is not encrypting its signatures… and them they’re detected by avast. But I’m not sure, what I know is that the both antivirus will conflict…
