my friend took my pen drive and he did some downloading in the internet center (which didn`t have no antivirus)
then he came back and when he put it in my laptop. it didnt have any files , it had only one file winthb\winthb which is a win32 trojan-gen i didnt update my avast i only installed avast trail version some 4days back ,downloaded from avast website itself
now the virus changed my c: into %$thbb$%c:
and it deactivated my file hiding options
can someone help me its urgent , i cant format the system since it has some important project files . i didnt create backups also .
i learnt a lesson that not to trust freinds when it come to security :-[
Flash Drive Disinfector
Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs from >here< and save it to your desktop.
[*] Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.[*] The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.[*] Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.[*] Reboot your computer when done. Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don’t delete this folder…it will help protect your drives from future infection.
Can you not right click on the C: drive that string of characters is just a label which you should be able to rename. Other than that are you able to access the C: drive ?
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode and report the findings (it should product a log file).

Control panel > Add/remove programs > click on avast! antivirus > click on Change/remove > in the opened box, scroll down left side to Repair and click to select > click on OK button > follow directions
