if you have more than one computer? you can try download the earlier mentioned programs on that, and then put them on a USB stick and move them over
Pondus, you are THE man/woman(whatever the case may be…) ! I was able to download the SAS from the stick, so that’s a start. Does the SAS process detect these “rootkits” if this is what’s happening, if not, what should I do about that? So far in the scan, it’s detected 125 Adware Tracking Cookies…
For the future - When you are able to get to the site, remember what I said, change the name of the download in the save file as, so that it doesn’t match the superantispyware.exe, etc. as the malware could be on the lookout for that and then you get the blocked (which isn’t a standard windows message).
Yes SAS can detect rootkits (I don’t know if it might detect this as we don’t know what it might be), but lets not cross that bridge yet, a step at a time. Let the scan complete and report the findings, cookies are nothing to worry about, but let it deal with them.
The SAS scan found nothing else aside from the cookies.
Now, however, I’m not able to connect to my wireless router, which was working fine a few hours ago!
Also, I did change the name of the download to something completely unrelated to SAS and it still wouldn’t take it. The only thing that worked was the USB stick transfer.
Biggest? issue now is the lack of connectivity through the wireless router…
Unfortunately I can’t help you with the router issue as I don’t have one being on dial-up.
I’ll work on it and see what I can do. Thanks to all for your help. It is a wonderful service for you to offer your expertise so freely.
You’re welcome.
I used to have that Trojan generic on my System Restore as far as i can Remmber
i don’t Remember how i removed it thought lol
Try:
Disabling system Restore
Scanning with Avast , avg , malware bytes , super antispyware (Hopefully avast and malware bytes does the job)
Please stop offering speculative advice, especially when that has already been suggested…
Had you read the topic instead of jumping in with both feet, you will have seen that in Reply #1 it was suggested to create a new restore point and clear old ones.
Had you read further you would also have seen other tools were also suggested.
