Win32:Trojan-gen MemWatcher2.exe

I don’t know how I got this worm, but I can’t seem to get rid of it. I Scanned with Avast and put it in the virus chest and deleted them several times, but to no avail they were back again a few hours later. The name of the file is MemWatcher2.exe and MemWatcher2[1].exe. They are in
C:Documents and Settings\Default User\My Documents\Data (MemWatcher2.exe)

C:Documents and Settings\Marita\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ Content.IE5\HKO7T5KP

I have tried to turn off my system restore and run the scan again. It found them so I deleted them but again they were back the next morning. Help!

If Avast detected it as a virus. What is the name of the virus?

This is a generic trojan detection. please scan with an online scanner such as trend (see below) and post the name of what it finds. Then I or another forum member will look up how to remove it

I did that house call scan and it didnt find anything. I have quarentind the virus to my chest… Could I possibly have spyware that is keeping me vonerable to this or it is giving a backdoor entry? It is win32:trojan-gen virus and the program that it is attatched to or the name of it is MemWatcher2.exe and MemWatcher2[1].exe

I am having the same problem. Have you resolved yours yet??

Use Adaware www.lavasoft.de to get rid of ot. Do not forget to Update it, bevor using it.!

I ended up re installing windows xp. It started deleting things out of my registry. I had to run Avast 5 xafter the reinstall to make sure I got rid of it and then since I was using cable modem I was getting all kinds of viruses. avast caught all of them and fixed them. I then downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy

This prevented any viruses from getting in from websites or from spies, backdoors…Works great with Avast! Dont forget to update them…It was a hell of a time getting rid of it…! :stuck_out_tongue: Good Luck I hope that I helped you with the websites… PS. they dont seem to make my computer unstable. I am running XP
