win32:Trojan gen {other}

Hi all,

My laptop:

Windows XP
Intel celeron
newest Avast Home
Spybot
ad-Aware

has four problems:

Most things work pretty normally, but

  1. win32:Trojan gen {other}
    Is regularly detected by Avast on-access-scanner on some dll-file (hdut.dll, hdyx.dll, etc.) in the C:\windows\system32 folder.
    It can’t be deleted, so I keep moving it to the chest and deleting it from there, but that won’t do any good either, it still keeps turning up.

  2. Some files inside Avast seem to be infected by trojans. E.g. hdzy.dll or nlsfuncs.exe in C:\Programs\avast4\DATA\moved. The infected files are actually all in this folder. That is found at each boot-time scan (I move them to the chest), of which I’d like to include a log, but I can’t find it in the log-viewer

  3. The laptop’s keyboard doesn’t work, i.e. the symbols appearing on the screen are not the ones that are typed. Can this be caused by a virus? I’m using an external keyboard, which works normally.

  4. All the processes are really extraordinarily slow. Can this be caused by a virus? Or is maybe the avast on-access-scanner just too much for my old pc?

I’ll be very grateful for any kind of help
bye,
Benjamin

Hi nimajneb,

For a badly infected system, I’d recommend Trend Micro Sysclean. If necessary, download the files on another computer. Extract the Zip file and copy to a CD. Start your computer in safe mode, copy the files to your desktop and run from there.

If you are not a Trend Micro customer please download the following file.

http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/enterprise/support/tsc.php

For the TSC package to be effective, you must download and use the latest pattern file. Place the pattern file in the same folder as the Trend Micro System Cleaner Package.

Then run a boot time scan with avast! if supported on your system? (Right click on the scanner screen and select ‘schedule a boot time scan’- set the default action to move to chest if you have a cordless keyboard because it won’t work during the scan.)

I also suggest you try Ewido (XP’Win2000 only)

and/or a-Squared http://www.emsisoft.com/en/

After that, update and scan with Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy, preferably in safe mode (tap F8 while booting.)

Good luck!
