Win32 Trojan-gen UPX & Adware-gen Adw

Hi to all,

I’m Ace! I’m just new here and I really need your help. I also had the same problem as the others do. Avast has detected some viruses on my PC, namely; Win32 Trojan-gen UPX and Win32 Adware-gen Adw. I also found out that I have this New.net domain in my Add/Remove programs. Could someone help me please, my PC is becoming slower and slower :-[. I have no idea how and where will I start ???. I hope someone could help me, please! Thanks in advance!

New dot net is a pain to remove I would suggest that you go here http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/You_Must_Read_This_Before_Posting_A_Hijackthis_Log-t2852.html and then post a hjt after following the instructions. As a bad removal of this bug can make you loose your internet connection

Hi rasengan85 & essexboy,

The page to read in the case of a NEWDOTNET or Webhancer infection is here: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Use lsp fix under supervision of a qualified helper, like essexboy is, but it does not delete any files, so there is no real danger. Only use this if you have lost your connection through your browser to the Internet, in most cases you can still use other services. You are advised to use only ONE software firewall.

 Hi Ace :

Open Add/Remove programs and uninstall New.Net or NewDotNet from there if listed.

 Then do a reboot.

Download Ewido Security Suite from www.ewido.net/en ;it is a trial version of the program ( assuming you have Win XP )
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
o You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
o If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
o DO NOT select “Perform action on all infections”
o If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
    Now close ewido security suite.

Hello guys,

Thanks for the advice! I really need that. I will try to follow it carefully! I’ll just inform all of you if anything happens! Thanks again!
