Hai all,
since about one week i get an alert on the file “default.sfx” of WinRAR. I think, this is a fault-alert.
Database 0444-1, 27.10.2004
Hi, welcome to the forums.
If you are getting a virus warning that you believe is a false positive, then if you can zip and password protect (‘virus’, will do) the suspect file and send it to virus @ avast.com (no spaces).
Give a brief outline of the problem, the fact that you believe it to be a false positive and include the password in the body of the email. Some info on the avast version and VPS number (see about avast {right click avast icon}) will also help.
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner www.virusscan.jotti.dhs.org if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive.

Using Winrar 3.40 Beta 4 (registered), Avast 4.5.497, vps 444-1 here and no problems.
What version do you have?
Hi,
it’s WinRAR 3.20 (not registerd), avast 4.1.418 with 0444.1
Get a newer version of WinRar and see if the problem is solved.
I just checked some WinRARs 3.20 we have here (with 444-3 VPS) and didn’t get any virus warning. If the alarm still occurs with 444-3, can you please submit the file to virus@avast.com, preferably with a short description? Or, if you have a download link, you can post it here. What language version of WinRAR is it?
