What is your firewall ?

Do you have any other security software ?

no i dont think i have a fire wall any more ever sinse i took norton off my computer i havent had 1 i thought avast was kind of a fire wall if theres any you would recommend ill check it.

ill post my hjt log later kinda busy atm.

i have also been havein problems with my turn off computer buttoms…when i click on it i get to the log off not turn off do u think a virus is afectin it in any way?

and nope i have no other security sofeware other than avast.

No avast doesn’t have a firewall, the network shield monitose some common ports that are used for exploits, but it isn’t a firewall.

  • There are many freeware firewalls such as, Comodo, PCTools Firewall Plus, Jetico, etc. - Zone Alarm free works fine with avast and has a reasonably friendly user interface, however, the free version is becoming bloated with trial ware and is also crippled as far as outbound protection goes In the Program Control, configuration area, the slider will only goes as far as Medium protection, if you want more you have to buy the Pro version.

See A Forum discussion on free firewalls http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=30808.0
See http://www.matousec.com/projects/firewall-challenge/results.php.

hey i think ill try a fire wall ill try comodo is it safe and stuff send me the download link if u can

Google will find the link for any ov the above firewalls, that is how I would have to find it.

We wouldn’t recommend something that wasn’t safe, however there are some depending on their system specification, OS, etc. find PC Tools better for them than say Comodo firewall, so it has to be a try it and see which is best for your needs and that is why I gave the links to both the forum discussion and the firewall tests, so you can choose.

I don’t use any of those I have a paid for option Agnitum’s Outpost Pro 2009, so I have no practical experience of any of them.

hey thanks again i havent had a virus alert sinse last avast update i changed my mind about comodo and im gonna try zone alarm ill try for about 1 week.

I would read the firewall test results before making that decision the pro version gets caned and the new ZA free version is crippled (so would do worse in that regard) and bloated as my original post mentioned.

Your system your choice, but it wouldn’t get the time of day on any system of mine.
