Hi, could anyone help me please? Recently Avast! informed me my PC was infected by Win32:Trojano-305. It suggested aborting the connection, so I did. I immediately did a boot time scan and almost every folder on my computer displayed an error message: {Exception in polymorph viruses code.} . Is there some way I can either remove this trojan either manually or by downloading some program off the net? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Hi Chewinggumchewer,
The message you got means that the malware was blocked before it could get on your computer.
More on the error message you saw can be found by searching the forum, e.g.:
Dear FreewheelinFrank,
Thanks for the reply.I did suspect the trojan didn’t get through to my computer, but I’m a little worried about the error messages. Does this mean if I do get malware in the future Avast won’t be able to scan the files that displayed error messages ? ???
Hi Chewinggumschewer,
What you could do to minimize the risk is the following, make sure your computer got all the updates available for the OS and the IE browser from microsoft, and keep these updated and patched,
use one good AV resident scanner like you have, only one good software firewall, have the three anti ad-/spyware programs on when your computer is clean, ad-aware, spybot s&d, spywareblaster, and use a fully updated alternate browser like Opera, Firefox or Flock with Adblock & NoScript. If you run XP SP2 run ewido against trojans or on another OS the free anti-trojan program a-squared.
