Win32:Warezov-OM

Hi All!
I’m using TheBat! 3.85.03 pro with Avast TheBat! plugin configured to sent infected emails to the " quarantine " folder.
Today my father receaved 2 emails infected with Win32:Warezov-OM[Wrm], after this I deleted those 2 messages, without opening any attachments.
So am I infected now? ??? ::slight_smile:

I don’t think so as the general means of infection is opening the attachments.
See http://www.avast.com/eng/win32-warezov-family.html some of the later variants can download more malware, so it is essential to have a firewall provide outbound protection against unauthorised connections.

You didn’t say if the emails received by your father came from your computer, the from address can easily be faked.

Status : moderate risk 11.07.06 10:59 "informational" to "moderate risk"

Kaspersky Lab is receiving a high number of reports from users throughout the world about Email-Worm.Win32.Warezov.

Multiple variants from this family are continuing to spread. The variants are all highly similar, and spread as an attachment to infected emails. Once launched, they may terminate antivirus and firewall programs and download other malware.

Hi David!
I haven’t opened/execute any of those attachment files, besides my COMODO & Avast are still working fine ;), so I’ll cross my fingers & hope it all just be ok! :-
Anyway thanks for fast aditional info.
