Are you using Windows XP?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning.
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.

Ok I managed to do the boot scan; but the alerts still keep popping up.
Perhaps because they are system files Avast! cant delete them?
Is there a known fix for this worm?

I just tested the file strwin8.dll at http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexx.html and all the programs (incl. Avast!) reported no infection.
Is the virus infected or not and what should I do ???

It may very well be a false posiive. See here on how to report what you think is a fp

If a virus is replicant (coming and coming again), you should:

  1. Disable System Restore on Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];310405
  2. Clean your temporary files.
  3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.
  4. Use a-squared, Free AVG Antispyware, SUPERantispyware or Spyware Terminator (trojan removers).

avast can delete system files… but is this a good thing to do? Better and safer is send the file to Chest (Quarentine).
But, see oldman’s advice :o
