Win32:ZAccess-PB & Win32:Malware-gen

Hi, I am trying to fix a friends laptop after he thought he a virus. After talking with him, I do not know what file he downloaded other than it was an eBook and do not know what site it came from. I installed avast and removed AVG as avast is my preferred AV software. After running avast startup scan it removed alot of files. I also installed MBAM and ran it as well. They both removed a lot of things but 2 items remain and keep popping up in avast every 5 minutes or so. They are Win32:ZAccess-PB & Win32:Malware-gen

I have started following the directions from http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Attached are the logs for awdcleaner, mbam, and otl logs

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Here is the aswmbr log.

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

When I ran the fix.bat, it returned a popup that says “Windows cannot find ‘JunctionPoints.txt’. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and then try again.”

OK I sometimes have that problem with that part of the batch file, but only on the odd system… Not yet figured out why

Continue with the next steps please

I ran combofix and it ran fine and rebooted. But upon reboot it asked me what program i wanted to open the file with. So i chose notepad thinking it was a log file, and it just created a blank file called “Dont”. There is no combofix.txt anywhere on my system. Other than that, I have had no popups from avast for the last 10min.

I forgot to run the OTL Quickscan for the logfile before I ran Combofix, I am running otl quickscan now and will post the logfile when done

Heres the OLT log file.

It is almost 2am in the UK so essexboy will be in bed now, he should be back on-line later today.

Could you run combofix again please
