i m running windows xp pro… recently, i hav been struck by the sdbot-841 trojan but i can’t repair the files as it seems to be a windows-essential file… fyi, it’s in the /temp folder… btw, the more scans i run on avast, the more viruses appear… how do i get round this… pls help… thanks in advance
Welcome to this board.
Files in a temp folder are temporary files. That means they are not essential for a system. Remove the infected file(s). If that fails, try to send them to the chest and remove them from there. If that fails, select “remove at next boot” If that fails, remove them manually.
Login as administrator (not as user with admin rights), make sure you have ownership of the file and remove it. If that also fails, and I doubt it very much, than have a look at the following sites:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320081

And please use the search function on this board prior to starting a new thread. Many issues are already solved here.
