Windows 10 Apps and App Store deleted during Windows 10 update

For the past several days I have been working with Microsoft Support Desk trying to get them to recover what was lost during a Windows 10 update; my App Store and most of all the apps that came with Windows 10. The techs did everything imaginable from downloading Windows 10 again to restoring to previous state. Finally today after I searched google for the problem, I see where CNET posted the problem in August 2015 and said Microsoft was sending out fixes or patches to resolve the problem. Today they gave me a more savvy tech who took remote access to my computer and finally said that it looks like AVAST has been deleting the patch when the update occurs and now the only solution I have is to do a Factory RESET, meaning back to original state but eliminating all my personal installed programs and apps. I’ve noticed in the past that I will get a warning from AVAST that a file is trying to download to my computer but says it is NEW to AVAST and AVAST recommends to not allow it. I find out it’s an UPDATE to WINDOWS 10, so I click the Allow button. I’ve previously notified AVAST that i was getting this message but they seem to not agree. Looks like now, it’s true, Avast deletes the update and now I’ve only got a choice to RESET unless someone has another idea. Really ticks me off!

avast will only give that warning if the files are new and only a “few” people that are using avast have downloaded it.
Since the patches have been out for several months, avast will not (likely) warn about them anymore.

avast is not deleting Windows updates.
If that was true a lot of post about it would be here on this webboard.

As an aside, I am on the fast ring so I get very frequent updates to windows 10. I have yet to experience any trouble with apps, the app store or any part of windows 10 being blocked or deleted by Avast

Same experience here. Avast scans but has never removed any updates that came from Microsoft.

Well, all I can say is EVERYTIME I get an update from Microsoft, I get a message from Avast that the file is new to AVAST and recommends to not download it. I’ve reported this to vast before. What I don’t get is the file is obviously being downloaded from Microsoft. I can even see that. Is there something in settings where I can tell Avast that if anything downloads from a particular website NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT? From an update from Microsoft on 1/15/2016, I got this message from Avast. What does the term “NEW” mean to AVAST? Appears to me that an UPDATE is always considered NEW since it has a new file name.
I’m not saying I agree with Microsoft in that it’s the fault of Avast. I’m just saying I don’t understand why they recommend to NOT download a file that is an update from Micrrosoft. Of course it’s new!

Are the updates coming from an ISP redirect rather than direct from MS as that can cause Avast to query the file
