I’ve no idea what’s going on here. My cursor behaves as expected in every program except Avast Free, when it disappears completely. Ony way I can use it is by using my touch screen. I have a HP Envy laptop, W10 up to date.
What exact version of Windows ?
What exact version of avast ?
Any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)
Are you using a custom theme ?
Did you perform a repair of avast ?
Did you perform a clean installation of the latest avast version ?
Have you checked for newer drivers for the mouse/keyboard ?
Suggesting a repair and/or a clean install is better if the instructions to perform
Not all seeking help here are as knowledgeable as you Eddy.
Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204
If Repair doesn’t fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast: https://goo.gl/4Ptzkf
No problem with this win10 acer laptop and the latest version of avast free.
Is this in every avast window, I just wonder if using the Alt key might help as it places shortcut letters in the settings screens, perhaps it may have an impact on the cursor.
Bob without knowing more we can’t say where exactly the problem is.
It can be avast but also e.g. the default installed drivers on that laptop or the drivers of the mouse/kb etc.
More details can (and likely will) at least narrow down what exactly is causing the problem
Sorry I haven’t replied but Avast Forums did not email me to say there had been replies.

Any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there) Comodo Firewall.

Did you perform a clean installation of the latest avast version ? Yes.
Have you checked for newer drivers for the mouse/keyboard ? Yes.
Can’t suss this out. I also have an XP laptop and this doesn’t happen.
I don’t know, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Avast. The cursor is visible at first, but after a day of use it disappears. Similarly running a repair job fixes it and then it breaks again. Weird.
Hello, in case anybody is still reading this topic: it’s a year later, I’m running the April 2018 Windows version, and just installed the newest version of Avast Free. I’m having the exact same problem. The pointer disappears when, and only when, I enter the Avast window.
