After the upgrade got to “default programs” and change your default browser to which ever one you desire.
People I know there are still some questions to be answered but…don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.
I’ll be looking for a place to buy a win 10 desktop so I won’t have to do the upgrade.
You need to read more carefully. Don’t jump to conclusions. Actually read what was written. The version of Windows 8 that you have, does allow you to pick your own default browser.
I even posted a video that showed you exactly how to do it. (I know, I can’t make you watch it.
)
I have read every post in this topic, also watched your video I have win 8.1 not win 8. It would be much easier for me to buy a computer with win 10 installed.
Is the brightness set by the graphics card driver or by windows 10 itself? By default it has it set by 40%… wasn’t it a little brighter in windows 8.1? I know easy to make it brighter ;D
Also there is a battery saver mode now…
You may send me the Windows 8.1 computer that you don’t want to upgrade.
An upgrade is virtually the same as installing a very large update like SP 1 on Windows 8
(Windows 8.1 is still Windows 8 it’s just been updated.)

@Midnight: how about to purchase a chromebook? Always up to date, silent, fast, low price, no issues with drivers etc. (off-topic)
Question:
Do I have to delete all third party programs before upgrading?
Kind regards, Hermie
If you’re doing a clean install that that’s what happens. If you’re upgrading, you get to keep your programs, etc

I haven’t gotten any download but the “Get Windows 10” icon has disappeared from my system tray. I guess that’s because I already reserved my copy a while ago. It just vanished today

Up and running on my main system now … Actually my only one
I haven’t received the download yet, but I just received an email from Windows Insider where to download it.
Is there any indication of what may have gone wrong?
This is how the “notification” is presented once all is ready to go.
I started the Upgrade process and after 1 hour and 15 minutes I’m posting this using MS Edge.
Now just a matter of settling in and getting to know her
