Windows 10 taskbar, start button, search button all not working with Avast

I used to be a big fan before this problem screw me up. My windows 10 with avast free screw up my taskbar and totally disable the Start key, I thought it was my problem then I restore Windows to default setting then it was fine for like 1 month, then same thing happened again. I google and found out it could be Windows problem, but I tried all solution people talked about but none of those worked at all. Finally I saw someone said it could be Avast problem, I uninstall Avast then instantly the taskbar works completely fine!

Stop saying it is Windows problem! Uninstall Avast will solve this problem, then it is not Windows problem! This is just simple “windows 10 is not compatible with Avast”! How do some of you guys saying it is Windows “bug”? You expect Windows to change code to so Avast works? It must be Avast changes code to work in Windows! Just uninstall Avast then instantly solve the problem then it is 100% Avast problem!

I install another free antivirus problem doesn’t have this problem at all Windows 10 works completely fine, you say this is Windows bug? Yes Windows 10 has similar problem for some people but it is totally another issue as I said I tried all those solution and it would not work when it is Avast screws up the taskbar.

Simple answer: uninstall Avast solves this problem and it is the only solution.

I try to find an answer to solve this in this Avast official forum, but what I see people keep saying this problem would keep coming back again and again then the only solution is to uninstall Avast

I come here to create a post is to help others like me who faces the same problem and I still use Avast but not with Windows 10 computer, Avast works fine in my another Windows 7 computer.

I didn’t see official support answered this at all, but I found out this “unofficial answer” (well honestly I think Avast actually owns this website and do some promotion and unofficial answer"

So there are 3 things you can try if this problem happens, may work may not work, may be permanent may be temporary and just like people talked about here any windows patch can let Avast screw up the taskbar again.

The website claims it is “Windows bug”, while Avast is the only antivirus software has this problem, so Microsoft doesn’t change programming code because of Avast then it is “Windows bug” while Avast doesn’t want to change its software code may be because it is inside the core part so Avast doesn’t want to change anything, you know too much work.

Yes some windows users have taskbar problem but it is not this case. I tried all those solution it wouldn’t solve this, just because it is Avast causing this problem. The 3 steps above is totally different from the ways people try to solve taskbar problem without Avast, so it is two completely different issues even having similar problem looking.

The only permanent solution is uninstall Avast then install another one that you trust. I don’t want to see my windows 10 just screw up again an again like how people said over here and I need to keep trying those 3 steps too see if I have luck. I don’t want to waste hours again because of a free anti virus program just not really compatible with Windows 10 and claim it is Microsoft false.

I hope the 3 steps above help you if you really need to use Avast and you don’t mind spending so much time and effort on this.

Try Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

OK so we should expect try 4 things with so many steps each for a free antivirus program when itself screw up the windows essential function taskbar good job.

What is your Avast! free Version?

I have already used the best solution: uninstall Avast and install another free antivirus, it 100% perfectly work with taskbar comes back to life!

Ok.Pls answer my question what is the version of your Avast! free?Because i am using avast! for last 6 years and now i am running avast! free on windows 10 pro with no issues. So install a new free antivirus do nothing if it is a problem of Windows :)Your pc your choice. And one more thing if you not using avast! "ANYMORE"so why you post same post again and again?https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=174748.msg1298929#msg1298929

That’s not an Avast website and it say’s so right on the page ( pictured below )

None of my Win 10 system have issues with the taskbar, maybe you need to clean up remnants from other previously used AV’s “who knows how many” and a clean install of Avast might solve your issues.

j2ee,

We won’t stop saying it is a problem with Windows 10 because it really is.
It is not only affecting avast but also other av’s and software.
Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and is working on a solution.
They have already withdrawn a update because it only made thing worse.

I come here to create a post is to help others like me who faces the same problem
Providing false information as you do is not helping anyone at all.

If you are sure it is avast that is at fault, show the code from avast and the Windows code that are clashing.

I seriously did research for solution of this problem, and no one and also I cannot find out any other antivirus software has this problem. Avast is the only antivirus program having this problem. Some people have taskbar problem without other program include Avast which is a total different problem even it is also taskbar. For Avast screw up taskbar problem there is no solid solution and no official answer.

Microsoft never said there is taskbar problem. Any source? I cannot find it. If Avast write the program the way that doesn’t work with Windows 10 taskbar then it is just incompatible with Windows 10.

When it is the only Antivirus software having this problem, did Microsoft say it was a bug causing Avast having this problem? NO. It is Avast doesn’t change its software to solve this problem.

I may try Avast again if official has a solid answer how to solve it or they seriously solve it, before that I would not try and waste my time.

There is nothing for avast to solve since it is a Windows problem.
Look at the webboards, blogs etc from other av vendors (as well as independent sites) and you will see that the problem also exists with other av products and not just with avast.

As I said, Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and is working on a solution.
When something is green you can keep saying it is red but that doesn’t change the fact it really is green.

Can you provide any link to prove what you said is not just pure imagination.
I cannot find any link showing Microsoft said it is Microsoft problem
I cannot find any link saying other than Avast there are other antivirus software having similar problem
Prove your point by showing any link.

This is not related to Avast at all.

Exactly because it is NOT an Avast problem

You are very funny
I searched and no single one person mentioned the word “Avast” in that Microsoft post. Even the outcome is similar with taskbar problem, it is totally different cause.

Comparing these two:

  1. People report problem in that post in Microsoft doesn’t use Avast, 0% ok? There is no Avast to uninstall to solve problem.
  2. People in Avast report having taskbar problem 100% use Avast ok? You know what? Uninstall Avast 100% solve the problem, everyone over here who said uninstall Avast solves the problem!

It is totally two different cause even though the outcome is similar! OK, so car crash would let a person die, then can I say everyone die must be because of car crash but not something else like cancer? Microsoft post is like car crash then die but Avast forum case is cancer then die, yes both die (taskbar die) but because of totally different reason.

I think my explanation is very clear, you still want to argue that Microsoft post is the same issue as Avast one? At least show us a link or anything with the word “Avast” in the content.

If you want help, then please answer the question.

Your pic doesn’t apply for the case like me or other over here because there is no Avast.
