Will Avast attempt to block the download of Windows 10 if running unattended after hours? (Currently on Win 8.1 and Avast free edition, version 10.3.2225.)
Thank you

Avast is designed to work with Windows 10, I’ve no idea what you mean by after hours and why would Avast block the upgrade ???

In the recent past, Avast has stopped several WIndows updates, advising that the files were new or not yet known, and asking if I wanted to continue with the download.
This is not a problem if it happens during normal “business hours” when I see the notice on the screen and can respond. However, my windows updates often now occur at night when the computer is unattended and I don’t see the message until the following day.
I haven’t received the Windows 10 upgrade yet so wanted to be sure there are as few impediments as possible. I think I’ll just change the windows update schedule to download during the workday so I can react to any Avast notices.
Thanks for your help.

Unless you’ve made changes to the Avast settings, there shouldn’t be any Windows update problems.
I’m currently on the latest Windows 10 Build and have never had Avast interrupt any of the updates.
A screenshot would certainly help clarify the problem you’re talking about.

I would strongly urge you to be present when upgrading to Win10 just in case something goes awry.
The upgrade takes between 1/2 hr. to 1 hr. to complete. Mine took 3/4 hr.

His remarks pertained to Windows updates not the Windows 10 upgrade.

Read the OP again.

The OP asked about “the download of Win10”. That said “no”, avast will not block the download of Win10.
I would still advise being present during the installation of Win10 if nothing else to make sure they use the custom install of Win10.
