I’ve been using avast! happily for at least 8 months, but just in the last 48 hours the Action Center has red flagged saying “Windows did not find antivirus software on this computer.” Avast! says that it is working, up to date and secure. Windows is update as well.
Does anybody know why the Action Center can’t see and validate the avast! installation? Below are the details:
CPU - AMD Opteron 185 2.53 Ghz
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition, build 7600
Security - avast! Free Antivirus version 5.0.545, Windows Defender
don’t know why it doesn’t work on your system…doesn’t really matter, as long as you know whether Avast services are running or not.
Check your system time and date.
If it fails, you could uninstall/reinstall avast.
Or reset the Action Center (advanced).
What do you want to do?
Since my time/date is correct I’ll uninstall avast! and try again. Should I use the avast removal tool?
NO…as long as you got access to the “normal” uninstaller, use it >>> it cleans better than the removal tool
Uninstall/Re-install worked. the Action Center is happy now. So am I. BTW, I used the default uninstaller rather than aswClear.exe. Thanks to all for the assistance.
You’re welcome. Feel free to come back any time you need help or just to change experiences 8)

Whatever you do do not use Comodo Time Machine unless you want to turn your system into a vegetable:
