Windows 7 - Problem with aswrvrt.sys (Won't boot) - to Essexboy other instructor

Hello,

I’ve seen that this problem as been mentioned several time and as advised here by Essexboy

https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=120531.msg923601#msg923601

I’ve prepared a FRST.txt file.

But first need help with:

I can’t figure out how to attach a file with my message (saw how to insert image, link and so on but not how to attach a file)

When you post, just below the box where you type is “Attachments and other options”

thanky Eddy

So here my FRST.txt file

You’re welcome.

I’m pretty sure your problem will be solved soon.
Just have some patience.

What were the circumstances leading up to the non booting ?

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST as before and press fix
On completion try a normal boot

I was uploading a big document on “www.wetransfer.com” during the night and when I woke up my computer was still running but not open where I left it. It was frozen at startup.

Will now do what you advice and come back soon.

Essexboy

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work:

1 - I say “doesn’t seem” because the Microsoft logo is not “frozen” but still “breathes”…
2 - in my previous trials to solve this problem I already tried to go back to a previous sessions ( I had two) but neither worked.
3 - then I tried with a USB Linux stick to change aswrvrt.sys name to aswrvrt.old with I succeeded doing. But it didn’t improve the startup of windows neihter. Should I rename it again .sys for your fix to succeed ?

and in Safe mode the computer still freezes at “aswRvrt.sys”

I seem to have lost my last post for some reason

This fix will stop Avast and its drivers as well as soluto from running although I do not believe that to be the problem

Could you first check in your BIOS that the drive is set to SATA http://smallbusiness.chron.com/change-sata-ide-bios-53443.html

If it is then run the fix

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST as before and press fix
On completion try a normal boot

I have in fact a big sata disk in my desktop but windows and all the rest starts on a SSD drive.
Is that a problem ?

OK let me check that out as I know that some of the older SSD drives had similar problems to this

Hi Essexboy,

Any news ? I’ve indeed a “old” SSD (approx. 4-5 years old)

Could you disconnect your large hard drive so that only the SSD is connected and let me know if you get any error messages when you boot

Sorry, disconnected all hard drives but it didn’t change anything…

OK back to searching

Could you confirm that the SSD is first boot device and is registered as SATA

ok, thank you anyway for all your help.

how can I check this (SSD as SATA) ?

Go into BIOS and check the settings there

Yes, when want to enter the bios the PC asks if I want to boot on “SATA:Kingston… 64GB”

OK, struggling to find an answer now. It is a system related problem
