I am going to find out today as I am going to rebuild my Vista capable system from scratch after I take backups of the data I want.
I’ll be installing a new hard drive as primary and the old one as secondary then install Vista Home Premium and get it working then use the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade that I can get from my local PC store that I purchase the system from.
I’ve now done over 30 installations of Windows 7 and am still waiting for the first problem.
It always helps to follow instructions and make sure that you don’t have any incompatibilities before you update.
I think this is like any upgrade or change of the Windows system. I will wait at least a month (probably 3 or 4 months) before installing Windows 7 to see what fixes will occur, before I install the windows 7 system that I received today. It definitely seems to me that a clean install of 7 is the answer, so I definitely won’t upgrade Vista. BTW, I have no problems with Vista, but probably don’t use my computer as much as most.
I know it is difficult to wait and I want to see the new Windows speed etc. too.
I hope all of you, like Bob, will have a good experience with installing Windows 7.

A clean install is nice but you can still save your user data and at least transfer it over to your new Windows 7 install.
There really isn't any need to wait. Windows 7 has been very reliable even during the beta testing. :)
I was talked into purchasing the full Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit package and its installed and working like a champ.
The system seems much quicker than before but that might be the larger hard drive that I put in and installed.
Well it does have 32MB of cache, which may be larger than your last hard drive (probably 8MB) so that will increase the speed a bit, but as Bob said, and increase of storage shouldn’t increase speed.
Glad you’re shopping from newegg now, if you haven’t before. It’s a kick ass company!
Made sure I had the latest drivers for the Gigabyte motherboard G31-ES2L as they had updates for Windows 7.
Their driver download site is in Taiwan and horribly slow.
I never realized the kind of bargain I received till YoKenny made his post and I did a little research on the drive I just had installed.
Not to worry, I’m sure he made it up in the 4 gigs of ram he sold and installed.
