guys i’m about to format my laptop and install windows 7…ive got both x32(x86) and x64 versions…but i dont know which one to choose…i have checked my laptop and it supports x64…also i have found the latest drivers for my hardware for win7 x64…ive got intel core 2 duo 2.4ghz, 4gb ram,nvidia geforce 9500m gs turbocache…is it true that the x64 version is more beneficial for multi core systems with minimum 4gb ram?also does it runs faster than the 32-bit version?

I really see no reason not to go 64 bit, especially if you have 4 or more GB of RAM. I have windows 7 x64 and I have had 0 problems.
I run Windows 7 64bit and it works with no problems so far.

guys ive got a problem installing windows 7 64bit…i switch the boot priorities to bot from dvd…i insert the disc and the windows cant read it…they start windows…if i insert the windows 7 32-bit the disc boots up fine…cant understand whats wrong with the disc or my pc…now i have windows vista premium 32-bit
Don’t know why it doesn’t work on 64 bit mode, your hardware as you described it supports it, no question about that…

yes its legal…its from msdn academic alliance…my university provides us with windows 7 home premium 32-bit and 64-bit for free…i’m curious why the 32-bit dvd will boot just fine while the 64-bit dvd is not even detectable…its just like i have no dvd in my dvd drive…if i insert the dvd while i’m in windows it will run fine… :S
ok problem solved…the file i was downloaded was .iso but i thought it was rar because it had winrar icon…so i used to extract it and then burn it to disc…my bad…all i had to do is just burn the iso to a dvd so it can be bootable
ok a second question…not a problem but just curiosity…in my main partition(in which the windows are installed) i have two program files…one with the name “program files” and another one named “program files(x86)”…why is that?i have done many times format before with win vista or win xp so i know that its not something that i choosed during the installation process…any ideas?

there are two program files folders in Seven/64, the first one is for 64 bit applications, while the other one (x86) for most others, ie 32 bit. Either one is automatically selected at install time.
