As I understood from right here on the avast Forums in recent times, Windows 8 has Flash Player built in, right? No need whatsoever to have to manually install it or update it, right?
Now … before, I used to have no problem bringing up any and all YouTubes on my sister’s Windows 8.1 computer. In recent times though, while some YouTubes will work fine, others will just display a message that Flash Player needs to be installed for the YouTube to be displayed. What the heck is going on? What can be causing that selective assessment of whether Flash Player is or isn’t installed?
As I said, my sister’s computer has Windows 8.1. And it is 64-Bit.
It has Norton Anti-Virus.
I use Opera on that computer.
But, to reiterate … ALL the YouTubes used to work fine before. And I had been using Opera back then as well.
Suddenly within the last 2 weeks or so that I’ve gone over there, SOME YouTubes won’t display.
I guess out of curiosity and for the sake of troubleshooting, the next time I go over there I can try IE, Chrome and Firefox to see if it makes a difference.
If you are using Windows 8, Flash Player is now embedded into the operating system for Internet Explorer so there is no need to manually install. Updates will automatically be made available through the built in Windows Update system
So, Eddy, am I understanding correctly? Flash Player is already installed in Windows 8.x ONLY for Internet Explorer? So does that mean that for Opera it is NOT? So I'd have to manually install the PlugIn version of Flash Player in that computer so that Opera can display ALL YouTubes correctly?
Okay, Craig, then I guess I’ll install the PlugIn version of Flash Player the next time I’m over there.
In Windows 8.1 is it installed the same way as on my Windows XP … just simply double click on the Flash Player install icon? No Windows 8.x special way to do it?
