Windows 8.1 Avast disappeared / New installation question.

Hi,

after updating to Win 8.1, Avast was gone. Couldn’t find it anymore. Is it possible to simple install a newer compatible version now or are there still some interfering leftovers from the previous version in my system which I have to remove first? If so, how do I do that?

Which version of Avast did you have prior to the update ?

I had this same issue.

I ran the windows 8.1 update on 10/19/2013 and installed it, then today I got a notification popup that windows defender had turned on because avast was unable to start.

So I looked for Avast and it wasn’t listed in my list of programs and the desktop shortcut for it was gone.

I downloaded the 2014 version of Avast and installed that and had to restart my system and it seems to be functioning properly now.

Avast 8 (and prior versions) will not survive update from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. Please update avast to version 2014 first.

I don’t know. I installed it a few weeks ago. The new Avast version I’ve downloaded seems to work. Hope it’s running right. I didn’t do any cleaning tasks before.
