Windows 8.1 Question with Avast

Hi All

Read this on Windows 8.1 Security info blog today, and wondering how Avast will work with this NEW Automatic Encryption feature coming to Windows 8.1, like Windows RT and Windows Phone 8 Currently have

“Best of all, however, full-disk encryption is now automatic for all versions of Windows going forward (Windows 8 and RT with the Windows 8.1 update installed, and newer). What this means is that, by default, every new Windows installation going forward will ship with automatic encryption applied to the OS volume, as is the case with Windows RT (and Windows Phone 8) today. (It works as it does in Windows RT today: The encryption is applied when you first sign in with an administrator-class user account.)”

Do wanna keep using Avast for the future myself

When Windows 8.1 final is released, avast! will be ready for it.
I’m sure the next beta of avast!will address this if it hasn’t already been addressed.

Thank you for the quick reply, waiting til Final 8.1 to install it here, but just thought i’d ask that question to find out anyways

@ Bob
Do you have Win 8.1 installed on any of your systems, or do you plan to wait until Final Release?

I plan on installing it on a desktop once I get back home.
As you probably know, I’m still in California doing the Avast sponsored presentations.
The following avast! version should be ready for Windows 8.1:

Thanks, I’ll check back when you get home and see what ya think.
My sense is I’ll be waiting till Final.
Have fun.
