Is just my PC (Win 8) but show last popup is grayed out and popup for updates doesn’t show.I tried repair
reinstall and nothing. I am really new to 8 so it could be the operator, or maybe that the way it works on win 8. Everything else seem to be working fine.It’s up to date and working fine.
Have you recently had a pop-up, if so what one and have you rebooted since receiving this pop-up ?
No popups at all since I installed it yesterday,and reinstalled it today.Seems to work ok I just think its a pain to have to… hold everything just had an update everything back to the way it should be.Everything works .
Well no pop-ups = no show last pop-up. But now you have had an update, if you had a pop-up then the show last pop-up function should work.
Still no popups and I still have to update manualy. I have tried repair reinstall and everything I can think of. Does anyone know a fix? 3 days of this is a pain in the A…s

If you are experiencing any problems with your computer, for example if your operating system has been corrupted by some other 3rd party software, which prevents avast! 7.x from being correctly uninstalled via Control panel, you can uninstall it using the avast! Uninstall Utility while running Windows in ‘Safe Mode’:
Firstly download the avast! Uninstall Utility from the avast! website:

…and save it to your computer, in a location where you will easily be able to locate it. For example save the downloaded file aswclear.exe on your Windows Desktop if you’re logged in as Administrator.
Reboot your computer and start Windows in ‘Safe mode’ according to the instructions on the Microsoft website:
to enter Safe Mode in Windows 8 press shift f8
With Windows running in ‘Safe Mode’ browse your computer to locate the downloaded file aswclear.exe (depending on your system preferences, the file extension may be hidden). Once you have located it, on your Windows Desktop for example, double-click on it to execute the avast! Uninstall Utility.
On the avast! Uninstall Utility screen select ‘avast! 7 Free/Pro/Internet Security’ from the drop-down menu as the product to uninstall, if it wasn’t already selected automatically.
Then enter the path to the folder where avast! 7.x is installed, if it wasn’t detected automatically, or you can click on the button marked ‘…’ on the right,
…and locate the installation folder by browsing via the navigation dialog.
Then click on ‘Uninstall’ to proceed with the uninstallation of avast! 7.x.
You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete all files in the folder where avast! 7.x is installed. Make sure that entered path is correct and click ‘Yes’.
When the uninstallation is complete you will see the message ‘Program was successfully removed’ in the Uninstall progress status log. Then click on the exit button ‘X’ (cross) in the top right corner of the window to close the avast! Uninstall Utility.
You will then be asked whether your computer should be restarted. Click to ‘Yes’ to reboot your computer immediately, or click ‘No’ if you wish to restart the computer later manually.

When you run aswclear.exe, you are asked to run it in Safe Mode:

Simply select yes and avast! will reboot your system into Safe Mode.

this case is occurring some sort of problem with the connection
or some program is interfering with the operation of avast.

Are you getting any errors to indicate that the auto update has failed ?
Check the avastUI > Settings > Updates > scroll down to Proxy Settings if you don’t use a proxy to connect to the internet, then set it to ‘Direct connection (no proxy)’ rather than the default ‘Auto Detect (use Internet Explorer settings).’ This has cause issues in the past for some reason avast is unable to retrieve these settings from later versions of IE.
It might also be worth checking if The Update Parameters are set to the correct connection method for you, which will probably be ‘My computer is permanently connected to the internet.’
No error message it just doesn’t update,and the show last popup is grayed out. All updates I have done manualy for the last 4days.
I have done everything that has been suggested above and still no luck.
Sorry I’m out of ideas.
I would check outside of avast! Obviously something is preventing avast! from reaching the internet.
Recheck your firewall settings and any other programs you’ve installed to safeguard internet access.
Other than that, I like David have run out of suggestions.
I have solved my not updating turned out to be firefox not sure how.I reinstalled firefox and redid the setting and Avast updated,twice today. Now in windows 8 I can’t get the avast icon to stay in the taskbar.If I turn the pc off the icon disappears, it will not show in the taskbar. I do have the notification on always show. Can anyone help. I’ve onle had win 8 for less than two weeks, and am also old,so be patient with me.
