Windows claims “no antivirus installed” when Avast! 4.8 is installed!!
This is happening with Windows 7 Home installed (clean install) and a fresh install of of
Avast! (latest version). Is this just another Win 7 bug!?!?. Thanks for everyones help!!

Used aswclear.exe to do a complete uninstall, then reinstalled…so far no problems (fingers crossed!). 
I found that disabling the the self defense module corrected the problem
so I did a complete removal and reinstalled. ???
