Windows could not start avast!

Avast service will not start. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and I have used the aswclear utility for the uninstalls. There is a registry entry for aswMonFlt in HKLM-System-CurrentControlSet-services, but I don’t see how I’m supposed to initiate it. The aswMonFlt.sys does exist in windows\system32\drivers
