Windows explorer not working

Hi having run the avast free AV and move an infected file to the chest I now cannot run windows explorer, any ideas?

part of your IE was probably infected, you can try use your install OS CD for repair your OS.

internet explorer is not windows explorer.
but maybe the op messed up.

What was the file name, its location, e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) and the malware name given in the detection ?
