Windows Firewall & Avast

Hi,

Just trying to determine if I should have both the Avast and Windows Firewall running. They are at the moment however I noted in the Windows Action Centre that it states both are running and that 2 or more operating at the same time may cause confliction. Windows Defender is turned off. I also have MBAM Pro running real time as well.

Any comments would be helpful

Thanks

Andy

This has been asked and answered many times.

You don’t indicate what OS you are using and that is very much related to using both ?

Nor did you mention which version of Avast you are using - Free, Pro, or Internet Security.

We might assume you are using IS but we might be wrong and therefore, the advice given might also be wrong.

EDIT : Thanks, David. I often forget to look at the signatures. :frowning:

If you look at his signature you will see what avast version he is using ;D

Hi, I am using Windows 7 64 bit

In your case the avast firewall was designed to be compatible with the win7 firewall enabled. So you can have them both enabled, essentially what the win7 caters for are Ivp6 IP addresses (not to widely used at present).

Thanks for that. Its what I thought but wanted confirmation from someone with more knowledge.

Thanks once again

Andy

You’re welcome.

I have trouble with typos too
