Windows firewall turning itself off after each reboot + homegroup issues

I got no idea why this is happening, if this is Avast related or not. I know AIS firewall isn’t supposed to turn off Windows firewall, and it doesn’t. So to make sure I just turned off AIS firewall, turned Windows firewall back on, and rebooted >>> windows firewall is de-activated again. And this is reproducible. No idea if it’s the firewall driver from Avast that conflicts and does this… any clue?

Also, I noticed that the homegroup tab in explorer left panel doesn’t display other computers anymore, although my system joined a homegroup, and I can see (in the Network folder) and access network shared folders on another system that is part of the LAN.

using: 5.1.874

ace11 and Tech mentioned it here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=67141.msg566124#msg566124
Not sure, if they got an answer…

yeah but that’s old and I’m getting this for the first time now.

Maybe is´t a little bug of the latest version?

Ask Lukas (lukor), he will know the answer.

I have Windows Firewall disabled as I use AIS.
Ok… I could let both… But, for me, it’s overkilling.

that’s not the problem, the problem is that Avast has never been supposed to disable Windows firewall.

Oh, I see… I did not test it, but it shouldn’t be disabled afaik.

okay this shouldn’t be Avast related, I uninstalled AIS and it keeps happening… no idea what does that… (unless AIS or some other app modified something… somewhere lol ??? in the system)

many errors found in event viewer, including tens and tens related to “homegroup” management with error 0xC0000035. Another error is showing a memory leak. See screen shots.

just re-imaged my system drive, which reverted Avast to 5.1.864 among other things… no change. The issue was probably already there and I didn’t notice.

okay I’m not leaving it like that, will re-install Windows, and might not be using Avast again for a while ::slight_smile:

Since a couple of months i’ve been using MSE and it protects also very well
that issue with system restore made me switch from avast to another anti-virus
sorry for avast :-\

An internet search on error 0xC0000035 shows many people with issues, homegroup etc, but not Avast users
