Windows Image Acquisition?

Can this service be triggered by print screening and saving it into a file such as paint?

sorry for the vague question but I will explain soon something has been puzzling me about my computer

ps It may or may not be malware related as certain services were activated without me doing anything and they dont normally run

Short answer no.

Provides image acquisition services for scanners and cameras.

So since your screen capture isn’t a camera or a scanner, you don’t need the Windows Image Acquisition service, the service default setting is Manual start and on my system isn’t started.

thats wierd as it hasnt started for me until yesterday but no one has used the scanner or the camera, there are also other prefetch files of other services that have only run since yesterday as well, I can post them here if you think it would prove useful

Any process/file starting will create a pre-fetch entry, listing them or the services won’t help as that doesn’t tell you what started it.

If you have the scanner switched on and is say a usb connection then that would probably be enough to start it. Check out http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm for service default settings.

I will check this out thanks DavidR

You’re welcome.
