Recently Microsoft launched the “Windows Live OneCare Advisor”, a free add-on to the Live Toolbar. Through advisor several sources of the Live Safety Center are available, for instance the phishing filter.
The softwaregigant has added a new function to it. Users of the Live Toolbar can now register as a “Phish Detective”. This technology gathers information on
potential phishing sites by examining the data acquired from Live Tool users.
The Phish Detective option looks if passwords are being used on websites the filter does not know about. If that is the case the software checks whether it is a phishing attack, and if so, reports to Microsoft to block that site. More or less like the Netcraft toolbar does for FF browsers. Running IE and interested, go here: http://toolbar.live.com/
Nice addition but be sure to use the customized install.
The last item which is pre-checked is the DesktopSearch.
IMHO, not something I want. You decide what you want and don’t want.
Unfortunately on my Main computer, once this toolbar is installed, InternetExplorer crashes. I had to remove it.
Will be testing it on the other 2 computers to see if it’s a system problem or,
a problem with the program itself.
Computer #3 Success at last. “One out of three ain’t bad” ;D ;D
Intel 1500MHZ Windows XP Home SP2 using IE6, had no problems installing the new toolbar.
It sure uses a lot of screen realestate expecially if you choose to add the tabbing button.
