…every time that Avast updates! Whether I want it to, or not (and I usually don’t). Can this be stopped? Any help appreciated.
xntryk1,
Welcome to the forum.
Avast doesn’t control or cause Windows live to do anything.
Your settings as to when Windows live checks for mail however do.
It they are set to check for mail at system start, then WL mail will check for
mail each time the system is started or, rebooted.
You can change that setting to never check for mail and you’ll have to do it manually
when ever you open the program to read your mail.
That’s just the thing - I’ve ALWAYS had Windows Live Mail set to NEVER check for new mail. I prefer to do it when I prefer to do it. But every single time that Avast updates, it triggers WLM to check for new mail. What’s up with that, he wonders? (and thanks for the welcome :-))
Sorry, don’t know what else to tell you.
I also use WLM and avast! without the problem your describing.
Try checking your event viewer. Failing that try uninstalling/reinstalling Windows Live Essentials 2011. I too use WLM and don’t have any problems.
Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t know what to look for in the Event Viewer. And I’d rather not hassle with uninstalling and re-installing WLE. So I guess I’ll just live with it. It’s more of a minor annoyance than anything else. Figures I’d be the ONLY one having such an issue…
Try posting your problem on Microsoft Answers someone there will more than likely be able to help you…
